In late 1930-th French army required some new military vehicles for different purposes, but the normal civilian versions were a too complicated and didn’t have any unification for service purposes. Renault started working on some simplified versions of trucks for either military or civil use. Interesting solution was presented in early 1940 in the series of AHS 2 ton cargo, AHN 3,5 ton cargo and AHR 5 ton cargo trucks, but the mass production was too late for the French army, while next year all the series were ordered by Wehrmacht and were in mass production till 1944.
