Attempts by Germany at the end of WWII to place the 75mm L/70 into a Panzer IV were proposed by the firm Alkett in the form of the Panzer IV/70 (A) series. The firm created the vehicle by taking the chassis of a standard Mark IV tank and building a superstructure on it capable of fitting the L70 gun.

FEATURES:

  • New Late Type Tracks
  • PE Parts Included
  • Decals For Two Painting Schemes
  • New Steek Road Wheels
  • Metal Gun Barrel Included

Product Review: Border Model 1/35 Scale Panzer IV/70 (A) Kit

I recently had the opportunity to build and experience the Border Model 1/35 scale Panzer IV/70 (A) Kit, and I must say it was a thoroughly enjoyable modeling experience. Here's my review of this kit:

First and foremost, the kit is well-packaged, ensuring that all the delicate components are protected during shipping. The instructions provided were clear and easy to follow, making the assembly process smooth and efficient. The parts themselves were crisply molded with excellent detail, allowing for a realistic representation of the Panzer IV/70 (A).

One standout feature of this kit is the inclusion of new late-type tracks. These tracks not only look accurate but also fit together easily, resulting in a more realistic appearance of the tank's undercarriage. The addition of photo-etched (PE) parts further enhanced the level of detail and added a touch of authenticity to the model.

The highlight of the kit, of course, is the 75mm L/70 gun. The metal gun barrel included with the kit adds a level of realism that is hard to achieve with plastic parts alone. The gun itself is well-detailed, and the superstructure of the tank fits perfectly around it, creating an impressive final look.

The decal options provided for two different painting schemes are a welcome addition. They allow modelers to choose between different historical representations and add variety to their finished model. The decals are of good quality, easy to apply, and adhere well to the surface without any issues.

One minor gripe I had was with the new steel road wheels. While they provided added durability, they were a bit fiddly to attach during assembly. However, with patience and careful handling, they can be properly fitted onto the model.

Overall, the Border Model 1/35 scale Panzer IV/70 (A) Kit is a fantastic representation of this late-war German tank destroyer. The attention to detail, quality of the parts, and the inclusion of extras such as the metal gun barrel and PE parts make this kit stand out. It will surely delight both experienced modelers and those new to the hobby.

I highly recommend this kit to anyone interested in World War II armor modeling. It offers a satisfying building experience, impressive accuracy, and the potential for stunning final results. Border Model has delivered a high-quality product that lives up to its reputation.

(Note: This review is based on my experience with the kit and may vary depending on individual preferences and modeling skills.)
