SHIPS FROM MILITARY MODEL DEPOT'S WAREHOUSE
GKO-35GM0101The Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle, also known as the Air Cushion Vehicle in Army and Coast Guard service, was a United States Navy and Army hovercraft used as a patrol boat in marshy and riverine areas during the Vietnam War between 1966 and 1970. Six hovercraft were built, three for the Army and three for the Navy.
"I still remember my first view of a PACV. I was a Riverine soldier located on the Mekong River. One morning we heard the roar of some unknown engine. We first thought it was an airplane but soon we saw a strange vehicle skimming over the buffalo grass making its way to the Mekong. It looked like something from the future or even an alien spaceship. We got a closer look at the beast when it tied up next to our monitor."
