The M24 Chaffee tank was fielded by the US Army starting in 1944 as, a light tank replacement for the older M3 / M5 Stuart. The configuration of the M-24 was in fact very different from its predecessor and its design proved very successful, so much so, it can be considered one of the finest light tanks ever made. Agile, robust, and reliable, it was well-armed relying on a 75mm M6 cannon with 48 rounds stored onboard. The additional armament of the tank was two 12.7 mm Browning machine guns. After the Second World War, where it proved its use in battle, it participated in the Korean War being used in support operations for the M4 Sherman tanks and the heavier M26 Pershing. It was also used by many foreign armies.
