The Battle of Kursk was a major World War II Eastern Front engagement between the forces of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union near Kursk in the southwestern USSR during the late summer of 1943. The battle ultimately became the largest tank engagement in history. The newest Panzer III L made a significant difference with its 50mm high-velocity gun.
